The DP Sprint is free entry for all spectators.  Racing starts at 9am ends at 1pm on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of August 2024. 

2024 Dinner Plain Sled Dog Race - Update for Spectators

Due to poor snow conditions, the start and finish areas for this years sled dog race will be moved to the Alpine School Access Road. The action starts at 9am this Saturday and Sunday. Racing will conclude at approximately 1pm on both days.  This will be the best place for spectators to view the dog teams. We have 70 dog teams competing in this years race, so come down and check out all the action.

It is just a short 800m walk from the Dinner Plain Village entrance towards Omeo along the Guide Alice Trail that runs beside the Great Alpine Road.

Please also note due to poor snow coverage the dog teams will not be able to be viewed from the tobbogan or ski runs.

So come and join the fun.  Expect lots of dog noise with hundreds of very excited sled dogs.  Feel free to take photos and videos.  Stick around after the racing has finished and have a chat so some of the mushers and be prepared to give some belly rubs and get some Husky cuddles in return.

And finally we ask that you DO NOT bring your own dog/s to the event.  The sled dogs are working breeds and we do not want to distract them from competing.
